On 19 November 2016, Higashi Nippon International University organized the tour called “Monitor Tour in Iwaki”. This tour was organized especially for the overseas student of Iwaki city. The aim of this tour is Trans missioning the news about Iwaki city, what they observed in the tour by using the social network and photography. I am also participating in this tour and I would like to share something about the “Shoko Kanazawa Museum of Art” which is in Tonomachi Negishi Yokomichi, Iwaki city, Fukushima prefecture.

I visited the Shoko Kanazawa museum of art. Shoko Kanazawa is a calligrapher with Down syndrome. Before I visited the museum I didn’t know about the calligrapher. A calligrapher is an artist who seeks and expresses the beauty of the written letter.Shoko kanazawa “A calligrapher with down syndrome” started learning calligraphy from her mother when she was five year old. Because of her hard work, unique sense of expression in portraying the meaning of characters, calligraphy shows the new style and her exhibition has been held throughout Japan. Many people like her calligraphy.

In Shoko Kanazawa museum of art in Iwaki we can observe the art of Shoko Kanazawa and get some knowledge of calligraphy. We can also have experience of wear the Japanese traditional dress, (KIMONO, YUKATA) and have the Japanese Traditional green tea (OCHYA). I got the chance to have green tea and wearing Japanese dress when I visited this place. I also wrote the Japanese letter Kanji by using the big brush (Fude). Really, it’s very difficult for me to write the letter and I felt how she could written the entire letter even though she suffered from Down syndrome. If you want to get experience of calligraphy please visit the Shoko Kanazawa museum of art in Iwaki city

Ms, Shoko Kanazawa is a Japanese calligrapher. The museum was built in Iwaki in 2013 hoping for the recovery from the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.
